Louisiana Tech Forestry Club has
been competing in the ASFC Forestry Conclave since 1979. In 2005, almost 30
students participated in Conclave. One of the largest groups
that year.
Hosting Conclave
Each year one of the 14 schools
involved will host the annual event in a rotating fashion. In 2006, Louisiana
Tech will host the 49th annual Southern Forestry Conclave. Hosting a
Conclave is no easy task, it can be an expensive and
time consuming endeavor. Host schools to manage the events, house, and feed all
of the conclave participants. This involves acquiring contest materials (wood
cants, climbing and felling poles, targets for archery, knife, and axe
throwing. . .), hiring catering companies, making award plaques, and more.
